Overview

The Institute of Local Government Studies has opened admissions for its first Bachelor Degree programme for the 2022/2023 academic year. The programme being mounted is relevant for professional and academic careers in governance and development. The Institute is accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and affiliated to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). It also has a standing relationship with


Programme

1.

 

This programme has a specialisation in Local Government Administration; Local Economic Development; Social Development; Environmental Management; Private Sector Development; Public Financial Management; and Gender, Diversity and Development.

The programme also seeks to provide students with adequate knowledge, appropriate values, skills and techniques to meet the needs of government and other development agents in realising good governance and sustainable development in Ghana.

This programme aims at providing students with a fundamental understanding of the skills and techniques essential in fostering effectiveness and efficiency in the management and administration of public organizations, institutions and enterprises.

It has the primary purpose of providing a well-rounded, broad education that equips students with the knowledge base, methods and principles that enable them to   excel in their chosen fields.

This programme is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of community dynamics, social justice issues, and sustainable development principles. It aims at creating a pool of highly competent professional community and social development practitioners who are capable of finding solutions to the numerous societal and community challenges at the district, regional and national levels.

Students will be equipped with the requisite knowledge, skills and attitudes for improving the quality of life of people and communities.

This programme focuses on understanding and addressing social issues and inequalities in society. The programme aims at creating a pool of highly competent professional community and social development practitioners who are capable of finding solutions to the numerous societal and community challenges at the district, regional and national levels.                                    

Students will be equipped with the requisite knowledge, skills and attitudes for improving the quality of life of people and communities.

The overall objective of this programme is to create a pool of frontline competent sub-professional community and social development practitioners who are capable of providing informed help to addressing the numerous societal and community challenges at the district, regional and national levels.
